Daniel was one of the 19 reform-minded Democrats who opposed Michael Madigan and demanded a new Speaker of the House after decades of one-person rule. Under the new leadership of Speaker Chris Welch, the legislature passed bipartisan ethics reform to root out corruption and improve transparency in Illinois. Daniel successfully passed term limits for legislative leaders, so no one will be able to amass power like Madigan ever again.
