About Dan
Rep. Daniel Didech is a lifelong resident of our community. Daniel is an attorney, and his wife, Jen, is a 6th grade math teacher at a local public school. Together they live in Buffalo Grove with their 2-year-old son, Theo, and newborn daughter, Violet.
Daniel has worked with Democrats and Republicans to pass some of the most significant, bipartisan laws in our state’s history. Daniel championed Illinois’ landmark clean energy legislation that will end our state’s dependence on fossil fuels and will keep our nuclear power plants running as a bridge to a sustainable energy future. Daniel helped pass bipartisan ethics reforms to root out corruption and increase transparency in Illinois. Daniel worked across the aisle to pass balanced budgets that fairly fund our schools, increase resources for our police, and rebuild Illinois’ aging infrastructure. Daniel supported some of the strongest gun violence prevention initiatives in the entire country, and is deeply committed to working with all of his colleagues to keep our children and families safe.
But there are some issues where Daniel refuses to compromise on his deeply held inclusive and progressive values. Daniel is 100% pro-choice, and is committed to keeping Illinois a safe haven for women’s rights. Daniel supports full equality for the LGBTQ+ community, and is proud to have made Illinois the best state in the Midwest at protecting LGBTQ+ rights. Daniel embraces our community’s diversity, and has passed significant legislation to make our state more welcoming to immigrant families.
As our community’s voice in Springfield, Daniel has not been afraid to do the right thing, even when it meant taking on his own political party. Daniel was one of the nineteen reform-minded Democrats who called on Michael Madigan to step down as Speaker of the House before he was indicted for bribery and racketeering. Daniel’s work to root out corruption in Illinois has helped build a state government that can finally be trusted to do the right thing and honorably serve the people in our community.
You can’t argue with the results of having a strong, effective, independent leader in Springfield. Now more than ever, we need to keep Rep. Daniel Didech working for us.
